Tuesday’s unanimous vote of the Southold Town Board saw it ban gasoline-powered leaf blowers being used by commercial landscapers during specific hours and days.
They are not permitted to be used Monday through Saturday after 8 a.m./after 6 p.m. Saturday after 9 a.m./after 5 p.m. Sundays and holidays are off limits.
Supervisor Scott Russell and board member Sarah Nappa cited the law as an initial response to widespread complaints about noise disruptions in Southold.
Russell noted that “It’s a start, but we’re getting there.”
