KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB – Wednesday, October 26, at 6:00 p.m., Kearney Volunteer Fire Department dispatched Ace Hardware in Kearney with a report of a gas leak.
Staff directed them to the bulk propane storage tank where the leak was discovered. Unfortunately, fire crews were unable to isolate the tank. To mitigate the situation, it was best to torch the entire tank.
The scene was determined under control around 9:30 p.m. KVFD appreciated the community’s cooperation during the event. The Kearney police department assisted in the scene.
