The village of Scarsdale’s ban on the use of gas-powered leaf blowers continues this fall on weekends, Mondays and Federal holidays. Electric leaf blowers can still used throughout the year, weekdays 8 a.m. – 9 p.m., weekends 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
We know that many Scarsdale residents were happy for these polluting devices to be absent during the spring, and summer. Many residents, especially those who work from home have expressed their satisfaction at the law. Backyards have become a place of refuge and outdoor conversations are possible again.
We are grateful that most landscapers are willing to use quiet, efficient, clean electric blowers. We also applaud the village of Scarsdale’s Public Works and Parks departments for switching to all-electric blowers.
Residents should remind their landscapers to not use gas blowers on weekends, Mondays, holidays, or beginning Oct. 1 through 31. Gas-powered blowers cannot be used on Tuesday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. The total ban on gas blowers will take effect from Jan. 1, 2023, through Sept. 30, 2023.
Officers will issue summonses for residents and landscapers who violate the village code. You can report a violation to the Building Department Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-5 pm at 914-722-1140. [email protected]Le.com and to the Police Department, 914-722-1200 at any other time.
